Monster Truck Offroad
Monster Truck Offroad is built on a simple but effective idea: make you progress on off-road courses by using the force and inertia of a monster truck to win the race or fulfill a destruction objective. First, you choose a vehicle among those you unlock throughout the game, taking into account three important statistics: speed, crushing power and suspension. Then, once on the track, you must move forward quickly without losing control, because the uneven relief constantly disturbs the trajectory. A more massive truck can flatten some obstacles more easily, whereas a lighter model climbs steep slopes better and sometimes proves more practical on technical passages. The game is therefore not limited to going straight; it asks you to read the terrain, anticipate the jolts and decide when to keep your momentum to clear a climb or a hollowed passage.
The player's choices become even clearer thanks to the three modes offered, Circuit Race, Destruction Derby and Time Trial. In one you mainly try to finish ahead of the others, in another destruction has a central weight, and in the last every lost second counts. You also score points by crushing cars and demolishing scenery elements, which changes the way you approach a section of the circuit, because sometimes you must prefer a more rewarding line to a simply faster line. Hidden shortcuts can also change the outcome of a round, provided you dare to leave a more obvious track. If you abuse jumps or if you present yourself poorly on a landing, you risk flipping and a sudden stop. Each track thus creates its own dilemmas between safety, speed, destruction and risk taking.
